Discussing All Things Gosford

Council went back out to the community to talk all things Gosford, just four months after its major community consultation project for the Gosford waterfront revitalisation.

During the consultation on the Gosford waterfront revitalisation, Council received an overwhelming response from the community asking about the future development of Gosford. Let’s Talk Gosford provided an opportunity for our community to find out more and have their say on a number of projects happening within Gosford.

Let’s Talk drop-in information sessions

Council hosted drop-in information sessions on Thursday 30 March at Parkhouse Gosford (124 Donnison St, Gosford NSW 2250).

Two separate sessions were held to allow the local community and businesses to find out information and have their questions answered about future projects, plans and opportunities for Gosford.

  • Let’s Talk drop-in – businesses and collaborators, 10am and 12pm
  • Let’s Talk drop-in – broader community, 1pm-4pm

Staff from across Council were on hand to answer questions, provide information and take on board all community feedback.

The community has played an integral role in shaping many exciting projects, plans and strategies to benefit and enhance Gosford that are now coming to life and we wanted to know if we have gotten it right.

For a long time, Kibble Park has been the heart of Gosford. It needs a refresh to make it a safe, welcoming and vibrant park that we can all be proud of.

Council commenced consultation on revitalising the park in 2020, and now that we have refined the design, we want to hear if we’ve got it right.

The refined Concept Design proposes an increase to the green space within Kibble Park which is a particularly rare opportunity within a City area.

The Street Design Manual and the accompanying set of Standard Drawings and Technical specifications are a first for the Central Coast.

Streets have several functions – not only do they provide safe routes from place to place, but they can become a place in themselves inviting people to stay, socialise and interact. The Street Design Manual will support consistency across the regions’ town centres through street design, amenity and functionality whilst also supporting the unique character each place has.

Council has prepared a draft Central Coast Local Housing Strategy to manage the supply of housing within the region.

The Local Housing Strategy explores the challenges associated with housing such as continuing rapid population growth, the shortage of low-cost rental accommodation and the lack of diversity within the existing housing stock and identifies a vision and key objectives to address these challenges.

A coordinated approach across all levels of government and the private sector is required to support diverse and sustainable housing on the Central Coast.

Central Coast Council is participating in the NSW Government’s $30 million Safer Cities program, aimed at improving the safety of women, girls and gender diverse people in public spaces around transport precincts.

Council is excited to be working closely with Transport for NSW to listen to the voices of local women, girls and gender diverse people, and trial initiatives that help them feel they can move freely and comfortably through their local public spaces.

Gosford will be the first location to benefit from this work, as many women and girls use, and depend on, public transport and hence the transport hubs, to travel to and from Gosford hospital in particular, as well as for other work or education reasons in Gosford.

Women, girls and gender diverse people have a right to feel safe as they move around the city and Council is excited to explore opportunities and learn from the work being undertaken through this program under the Let’s Talk Gosford banner.
