Consultation on this project has now concluded.

Central Coast Council commissioned the development of a Gosford CBD Heritage Interpretation Strategy to provide a framework and recommendations on how to bring the heritage of Gosford to life in the contexts of tourism, heritage, urban renewal and place-making. It is a practical document, designed to link with the ‘Our city, our destiny: Gosford City Centre Masterplan’, the ‘Revitalising Gosford City Centre Plan’, and other key policy documents.

The Strategy puts forward a series of innovative, interactive and inclusive ways for visitors to engage with the city’s past, and reposition Gosford CBD as a destination for tourists and residents.

Community consultation

Between 2 and 30 May 2019 Central Coast Council sought community feedback and carried out promotion for the consultation of the Draft Gosford CBD Heritage Strategy.

In addition to placing the strategy online for comment, we ran two drop-in information sessions in the Gosford CBD:

  • Imperial Shopping Centre
  • Kibble Park

Council asked participants to place dots on visual displays designed to gather feedback. At these events’ information was also provided on the following:

  • Areas identified as heritage significance
  • Story telling of Gosford
  • Artistic impressions of enhancements (signage, wall art, awning art)

What's next?

The feedback will play an important part in the next step of developing the Interpretation Strategy. Council will consider all ideas when preparing for the next stage of prioritisation of implementation.
