Project Background

This planning area is made up of the following suburbs:

Chain Valley Bay, Doyalson North, Frazer Park, Freemans, Gwandalan, Kingfisher Shores, Lake Munmorah, Mannering Park, Point Wolstoncroft, Summerland Point, Wybung, Blue Haven, Budgewoi, Budgewoi Peninsula, Buff Point, Colongra, Doyalson, Halekulani, San Remo, Canton Beach, Norah Head, Noraville and Toukley.

Central Coast Council had a number of projects happening in the Northern Lakes, San Remo-Budgewoi and Toukley planning area that we wanted the community’s feedback on and at the same time we also spoke with the community about their ideas and opinions for the area.

We invited the community to:

  • Have their say on the Draft Lake Munmorah Structure Plan
  • Submit their ideas or suggestions for this planning area

FAQs

We know most residents love and care about where they live and have specific aspirations for their local area. We’ve created this forum to put the focus on local places so you can connect with other locals and Council to talk about what’s important in your part of the world.

Districts have been created based on Council’s Social Planning Districts, which have been developed by Council’s experienced (and locally-based) social planners. These districts best group suburbs with natural, built environment and social similarities.

We’ve heard from the community that you have a deep connection with your local area or suburb. While wards can change, the nature and character of each area on the Central Coast is specific to its residents and neighbourhood which is why we are removing the politics and focussing on the place where you live and grow.

  • Online forums

    Talk about your place online with other locals in your own space and time. We’ll be there to answer questions, ensure conversations are respectful and provide useful information on Council-related topics.
  • Social media

    Connect with us on our various social media channels. Because of that nature of social media, your comments may not necessarily be recorded or actioned. We recommend other channels if you would like a response.
  • Project information sessions

    We often hold information sessions focused on a specific Council project, program or Council strategy. These sessions are a great opportunity to speak to specialist staff about what we’re working on. You can also have your say at many of these events.
  • Formal representation

    Council provides formal avenues for the community to bring issues, concerns or praise to Council’s attention. These include:
    - Contacting your local Councillor directly
    - Speaking at our residents forums, which involves presenting directly to Councillors before council meetings.
    - Joining an established Council committee or advisory groups for Council specific functions or issues
  • Join a local group

    There are a number of residents’ associations or local neighbourhood groups across the Coast locals can get involved in. While these groups are not supported or attended by Council staff or Councillors, they can be a good way of participating in local matters and meeting like-minded people.
