The final skatepark design is ready to view!

The existing skate park is at the end of its life and ready for a revised modern facility to meet the needs of the community and growing number of families in this area.

We wanted to ensure our community had the chance to tell us what they want they wanted to see in the new design, including the style, layout, components, and which wheels you want to ride on.

Council engaged a design consultant who hosted a design workshop and used feedback from participants and the online survey to create concept designs.

Council is funding the design and build of the new skate park, with construction anticipated to commence early 2025, and completion by mid-2025.

This all relates to the Tunkuwallin Recreation Precinct Plan from 2020 which was developed to guide the layout of the future infrastructure to be built within Tunkuwallin Oval, Gwandalan, including the current skate park.

Council invests in purpose built, safe and engaging skate parks and recreation areas because of the many community benefits these facilities provide, and to meet the growing popularity of skateboarding and scootering across widening age groups, genders and abilities. Concept design

The final concept design is ready to view! We listened to residents and incorporated their ideas to create a skatepark that truly reflects their vision.

The variety of obstacles and terrain, including street and transition areas, will cater to different ages and skill levels.

We were particularly excited to expand the scope to include the pump track, responding directly to the community’s desire for a space for younger children.

Construction is now underway, with the skatepark anticipated to be ready by the end of June.

Consultation results

Thank you to those who provided feedback. Our community survey received 91 responses and helped us understand who uses the skatepark and what features users would like included. To learn more about the feedback we received, view the full Consultation Report.
