About engagement at Central Coast Council

Engaging our community on a range of Council plans, projects and initiatives is a core responsibly of local government and staff are committed to ongoing dialogue with our community.

Engagement at Central Coast Council is guided by two key documents:

Engagement Framework

This overarching framework defines our approach to all engagement at Council with the aim to ensure that we do what we say we will do and that we apply engagement in a consistent way. The framework provides direction to effectively engage and communicate with our community and customers, and provides guidance on when and how to undertake engagement activities and what steps and processes should be considered.

Community Participation Plan

This planning-specific document is designed to make participation in planning clearer for the Central Coast community. It does this by setting out in one place how and when you can participate in the planning system, our functions and different types of proposals.

Please note Development Applications (DAs) that are open for public comment can be viewed on the Central Coast Council website.

About Your Voice Our Coast

The Your Voice Our Coast website allows you to have your say in Council’s decision-making process in your own time and comfort.

You don't have to attend community events at a set place and time, you can contribute at a time and place that suits you.

  • It’s a quick, safe and convenient way to have your say on a range of issues and topics.
  • It’s a great way to keep up to date and contribute your views on issues affecting your community.
  • It allows for a range of different people, with different views, to discuss matters that impact on their community.

Is there another way that I can provide feedback on consultations?

Council uses a variety of tools and methods to gather feedback on projects open for consultation. These can include face-to-face and virtual workshops, one-on-one meetings and online forms. Be sure to check the individual project pages online to learn about the ways you can be involved in a specific project.

What happens to my feedback / comments?

All comments, ideas and suggestions are collated and used by the relevant project officer to inform the development of strategies, programs, activities and designs, or to gain an insight into community views and opinions.

Often, feedback provided online is used in conjunction with other consultation activities such as workshops, meetings, information sessions or surveys.

All feedback provided during consultation will be considered as part of the project development process, however this does not mean that every suggestion can be taken on board and adopted as proposed.

Where possible, we will publish information on the results of the consultation on Your Voice Our Coast.
